As a School Counselor, I have many responsibilities within the school. Some of these responsibilities include:
Individual Counseling: I will meet with students individually to assist with academic or social emotional needs. These sessions tend to be brief and school-focused. If a parent/guardian is interested in seeking outside counseling, I can provide a list of resources available in the area.
Group Counseling: At times, I will meet with students in a small group setting, typically as a lunch group. These groups will be informal and will take place in my office throughout the school year. Lunch groups are designed to be a positive experience for students. It is a time for students to share and further build relationships with their classmates.
School-Based Counseling: During the school year, I plan and implement various prevention and character education programs. Some of these programs include Student of the Month, Week of Respect, and School Violence Awareness Week. These programs are designed to enhance peer relations and positively impact the school climate.
